If
I tell you I want to be a part of an honest and ethical
decision-making process on the Apple Valley Town Council,
you’d probably think, “Well, I’ve heard that before”. My
problem is, that is exactly what I want. There is nothing
more important a councilperson has to offer his neighbors.
Issues confronting our community will vary. We must have
council members capable of making balanced, reasoned and
ethical decisions. Anything less is anarchy.
The Town of Apple Valley is
celebrating twenty years of incorporation. During that time
I have served our community as a member of the Roads and
Drainage Committee, Public Works Committee, Building and
Safety Board of Appeals, Chairman of the Planning Commission
and most recently on the General Plan Advisory Committee.
The General Plan Advisory
committee has worked on updating the land-use element of the
General Plan. This procedure is necessary for compliance
with State Law and to reflect changes in the town’s growth
patterns. The finalized General Plan creates a blueprint for
future development of infrastructure and growth throughout
our community. The General Plan establishes land-use
definitions and maps their locations. The land-use map
should be respected to allow harmonious and consistent
growth. My goal is to bridge the gap between development and
our environmental concerns for air, water and quality of
life.
My goals are:
Protect
our quality of life by first and foremost establishing a
coordinated effort between law enforcement, code
enforcement, District Attorney, Probation Department, Courts
and private sector gang interdiction organizations to send a
clear message to gangs and criminals that we will not
tolerate their existence in Apple Valley and the High
Desert.
Resolve
our current traffic congestion and provide quality traffic
flow through cooperation with other High Desert cities to
ensure that Apple Valley’s share of Measure I and Federal
Highway funding is used for the benefit the residents of
Apple Valley. My experience as an architect and my
background in civil engineering will provide the Town
Council with a valuable resource in the decision making
process for future road and transportation development.
Promote
a sustainable economy by encouraging development of
businesses in the healthcare and light manufacturing
industries.
Ensure
future water quality and supply by uniting regional
interests behind a statewide effort to fund and build the
Sacramento Delta Peripheral Canal to protect the flow of
water to our valley provided by state water project.
